Mercury is the most toxic non-radioactive element on the earth. Published research demonstrates that mercury is more toxic than lead, cadmium or arsenic. Mercury can accumulate in the body from long term, even at low level exposure.
If you have old silver/amalgam Fillings - you have mercury in your mouth.
Many people do not realize the "silver" amalgam fillings are 50% mercury, a large filling may contain almost as much mercury as a thermometer.
Due to its poisonous nature, mercury can adversely affect the nervous, immune, urinary, cardiac, respiratory and digestive systems. Under laboratory conditions, mercury has produced brain cell deterioration identical to that seen in victims of Alzheimer's disease. For those reasons and others, amalgam fillings are generally fazing out all over the world, and in US recently too. Unfortunately, insurance companies still only cover amalgam for fillings. Safe Removal Of Amalgam Fillings
We SAFELY REMOVE old amalgam/mercury fillings
We safely remove old amalgam/mercury fillings and we responsibly and safely dispose the removed toxic amalgam, it doesn't end up in the sewage system and ultimately in our ocean. It's all filtered in Amalgam Separation traps and sent to a recycling facility, it doesn't end up in our City's drain system! This is above City and County requirements and most Dental Offices in Orange County don't have this system in place. We protect you and our staff during the procedure and replace your old filling with a non-toxic, tooth-colored composite filling.
We use a special suction vacuum that filtrates and traps mercury particles, so they are removed from the air.
We use special Clean Up suction tips that completely cover your tooth and capture mercury vapors and particles from inside your mouth so you don't breathe them.
A dental dam is placed on Patient's mouth and the face and body is covered. You will have eye protection and an external Oxygen source, so you don't breathe the air and the mercury vapors around your mouth.
The Patient is given a slurry of charcoal, chlorella, or a similar adsorbent to rinse and swallow before the procedure to reduce even more the absorption of mercury in your body.
The dentist and the assistant in the room will use face shields and hair/head coverings and hazmat grade filters for breathing. Yes, we have to protect our staff as well as the Patients so we take several safety measures and precautions, before, during and after the procedures.
